About HIPPOTRAKTOR
Emerging from the vibrant landscapes of Mechelen, Belgium, the progressive/post-metal outfit Hippotraktor has carved a niche for themselves with their compelling blend of sonic grandeur and philosophical depth. Since their acclaimed debut EP 'P’eau' in 2018, they have been fine-tuning their songwriJng and producJon skills, notably expanding their lineup from a three-piece to a five-piece ensemble, with the addiJon of singer/percussionist Stefan De Graef from Psychonaut and guitarist/singer Sander Rom from L’Itch. This expansion has allowed Hippotraktor to broaden their sound, enriching their instrumental prog metal roots with a more dynamic and layered auditory landscape.
Their debut album 'Meridian' was a testament to their craft, intertwining the awe of the natural world with the intricacies of human emoJon and philosophy. It showcased their ability to meld massive, catchy riffs with the rhythmic and technical proficiency reminiscent of bands like Gojira and Meshuggah, delivering an intense and larger-than-life auditory experience. The thematic core of 'Meridian' delved into the evolutionary theory of naturism, presenting a narrative that personifies the earth's elements, reflecting a solitary journey in search of existential truths.
As of today, Hippotraktor's journey has led them to the cusp of releasing their second album on June 7th, 2024, through Pelagic Records, promising to be another step in their evolutionary artistic expression. They have graced stages at prominent international fesJvals such as Arctangent in the UK, Prognosis in the Netherlands, Metaldays in Slovenia, and Belgium's Graspop Metal Meeting, Alcatraz, and Rock Herk, showcasing their prowess and mindblowing live reputaJon to a global
audience. The selection of Hippotraktor to perform at the ESNS (Eurosonic) Showcase Festival in January 2024 further solidifies their status as a band with a burgeoning reputation and a rising force within the metal community.
