The Groove Family Biography

The Groove Family is a Soul/Funk band founded in 2015, based in Madrid. The band takes from the Source a sound full of energy, infectious grooves and heartfelt
melodies to build songs full of strength and emotion. They have a sound inherited from various influences that recall great artists of the 60's and 70's such as James
Brown, Dr. John, The Meters or The Poets Of Rhythm.

They have taken their overpowering live show to many festivals, such as "Enclave de Agua" (Soria, 2021 and 2022), Festival I Love Music (Pinto, 2023), "Paisajes del Olivar" (Jaén, 2022) or “Jazzaherrean" (Vitoria, 2016), among others, as well as
different venues all over the Spanish peninsula.

“ROUGH SHINE”, their first full-length album, was released digitally on June 16th, 2023 through Roughshine Records. The LP is made up of eight tracks that wander freely between Funk and Soul with some characteristic nuances of its members rock
spirit. Recorded and mixed by Santi Martin at Funkameba Estudios and Aurora Estudios, it features some of the most prestigious musicians of the Spanish black music scene: Carlo Groove (guitar and composition), Jay Rivera (voice and lyrics), Santi "Sweet Fingers" Martin (bass), Gabri Casanova (hammond/piano), Kike Blanco (hammond/electric piano) and Joako Rodríguez and Miquel Ferrer (drums). This album also features the special participation of Mayka Edjo on vocals, one of the most recognized soul divas in Spain.

Previous to “Rough Shine”, two singles were released through the Madrid based label “Sweet Records”: “Audio Tape” (2017), and “Magnetophon” (2018). Both works
recorded strictly in analog and distributed through Vampi Soul. Their work has appeared on several occasions in specialized programs such as “Sonideros” on Radio 3 or the BBC’s “Funk & Soul Show” in London, hosted by Craig Charles, arousing very good reviews from the British presenter and producer.

"The Groove Family are proof that a renewal of the national Soul/Funk scene has already begun."
Miguel Sutil [Enlace Funk]

"The deep and raw groove of Funk."
Dj Floro [Sonideros Radio 3]

"The Groove Family has the power of respecting silence, of dialoguing with the instruments, and of building the groove while letting the listener fill in the gaps. A band that doesn't need to pretend, that carries the beat in its veins and that just
knocks you out".
Jesus Bombín [Sonideros Radio 3]
