Richie WeedSpirit Songs and stories“Spirit songs is about the songs that naturally form, direct from some otherplace, without intellect getting in the way, its about keeping it as authentic tothe original transmission as possible”2023 Has been a productive year for Richie Lewis, otherwise knownartistically as Richie Weed, branching out from Tumbleweed, the band heformed and has fronted for the past 30 years.Throughout the 90s Tumbleweed achieved considerable success, recording 5studio albums and touring nationally and internationally with some of thebiggest names in the business, Nirvana, Iggy Pop and Ramones to name 3,they continue to write and record and perform.But this year Richie has been concentrating on solo endeavours, curating acaptivating show titled "Spirit Songs and Stories" , weaving tales andreinterpreting songs and melodies that span his extensive career, creating anintimate and mesmerizing experience for audiences, drawing fromTumbleweed, Hot Rollers, Richie and the Creeps, as well songs off hisforthcoming debut solo album.The highly anticipated album, showcasing his evolution as a singer-songwriter, promises something fresh and unique, Kicking off the excitement,the first single "Pure Evil" is slated for release in January, setting the stage fora series of shows in Melbourne. These performances not only unveil his newmusical direction but also delve into the rich tapestry of his 30-year career,drawing from his diverse musical ventures.Richie will be joined by a talented cast of musicians with Natalie De Silver(Guitar, organ and flute) Steve O Brien (percussion) Matt Houston (Bass andHarmonium) and Luke Spook (mellotron and Lapsteel)In 2023, Richie expanded his horizons by delving into acting and contributinghis musical prowess to the critically acclaimed play "the Hum," written anddirected by German based playwright, Fiona Leonard that draws inspirationfrom Richie's own life experiences. This foray into theatre showcased Richie'sability to intertwine his life's narrative with artistic expression.“It’s a chance for me to introduce people to my new songs, as well as tell a fewstories about my life as well as reinterpret some old favourites in a weird andinteresting way” RichieRichie Weed will be accompanied by the magnificent Tropical Strength on allshows.
