NEA Jazz Master Big Chief Donald Harrison graces the Town Hall stage with his ensemble and some of the world's most influential music innovators. Harrison, joined by his special guests Fred Wesley, Dave Holland, Jazzmeia Horn, Arturo O'Farrill, Vernon Reid, Charles Tolliver, and Joe Dyson, will present a program of multiverse, omniverse, multi-genre groove-orientated concepts. Harrison is a New Orleans native renowned for creating the "Nouveau Swing" style of music that merges his mastery of every jazz era with modern dance music. The concert promises to be an electrifying experience showcasing the history of music and music whose goal is to push the boundaries of cultural and musical traditions to their logical extensions.

Sitting at the vanguard of New Orleans' Drum Legacy is Joe Dyson. Joe, herald as one of the top drummers on the music scene can be heard with NEA Jazz Master and Multi- GRAMMY winning artist Pat Metheny Side Eye Trio; GRAMMY Winning and multi- instrumental artist Nicholas Payton; and NEA Jazz Master Big Chief Donald Harrison. Dyson, as an architect of sound, forged a new path for music with Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah's "Stretch Music” creating a new approach to drumming with his "Pan African Kit." After appearing over a myriad of albums, Dyson released his debut album LOOK WITHIN warmly received throughout the world. Elder Drummers are calling him one of the one’s that will carry the legacy forward.
