About this concert
Straddling the various sub and mainstream cultures of the Australian music world with relative comfort and ease for years, Augie March have continued to do what they do regardless of what ice cream flavour is melting on the contemporary footpath.Winners of the AMP, Hottest 100, various APRA gongs and much else, this unassuming lot have been indie as can be, spread all over the corporate map, revered across the globe by the highest, mightiest, lowest and dirtiest. You can see them one night making tender dreams and roiling nightmares come alive on a theatre stage, the next night tearing it up in a dive, the next being the nicest bunch of neo-folkies you ever met at your local RSL as they work out a set for the winery up in the lofty hills the following afternoon.Incomparable in this land and any other - intelligent, passionate, funny and all broken up, and still making brilliant original music when most of their peers have gone into advertising.

Augie March Biography

Augie March is an Australian Indie band. The group was formed in 1996, in Melbourne, Victoria, by singer/songwriter/guitarist Glenn Richards, drummer David Williams, guitarist Adam Donovan, and bassist Edmond Ammendola.
In 1998 the band expanded to include keyboardist Rob Dawson.

'Sunset Studies' (2000) was the band's first release. It was met with good reviews, and was moderate in its overall success.

After time apart and the death of keyboardist Rob Dawson, Augie March returned to the studio to record their second full length album... 'Strange Bird' was released in 2002, eventually being released in the US.

Augie March's latest album 'Moo, You Bloody Choir' was nominated for four ARIA Awards in 2006: best rock album, single of the year ("One Crowded Hour"), best group and album of the year, but didn't win.

On the 26th of January 2007 (Australia Day) "One Crowded Hour" came in at number one in Australian radio station Triple J's Hottest 100 (an annual music poll). A somewhat unexpected victor Augie March surprised many listeners with their success, but were on the most part very well received by Hottest 100 fans.

The band will release its fourth long player, "Watch Me Disappear", on October 10 in Australia, followed by a national promotional tour.
