About this concert
The sounds and styles of vocalist/composer Jocelyn Medina cross cultures, creeds and continents. A veteran of the New York jazz scene and producer of the 2023 JEXA (Jazz Excellence) Award-winning Sunday Vocal Jazz Jam series, she is fast becoming a strong, new element of the Denver/Boulder music community. Jocelyn developed her unique blend of jazz, neo-soul and world music over the course of two decades of studying, performing, recording and touring in and around the NYC area as well as abroad in Ghana, India, Spain and Brazil. Since moving to Colorado in 2021, she has been collaborating with great local musicians including Bill Kopper, Bill McCrossen and Dru Heller, who will join her for a special performance at Dazzle previewing repertoire from her new Brazilian Jazz recording project, sponsored by Colorado Pathways to Jazz. Listeners can anticipate an eclectic mix of original jazz and Brazilian music that’s sure to inspire both the spirit and one’s dancing feet! “Medina offers the jazz listener a musical journey that takes the foundation of Latin and Jazz idioms and successfully redefines the experience with thought provoking lyrics and vocal abilities far beyond the norm.” - All About Vocals Jocelyn Medina - Voice Bill Kopper - Guitar Bill McCrossen - Bass Dru Heller - Drums for more info visit www.jocelynmedina.com
