About this concert
RSVP does not guarantee entry. Entry is first come serve first serve till we are at capacity. Belltown Film Society is proud to present a free screening of 1980s dubwise explosion Babylon at the Here-After. Set entirely in Thatcher-era South London, Babylon follows the adventures of the young Ital 1 Lion sound system crew as they navigate defeating their rivals in the soundclash and finding their place in a rough and racist British society. Widely regarded as one of the best films about Reggae music ever made, it features music and performances by Dub luminaries like Aswad, Jah Shaka, Dennis Bovell, I-Roy, Yabby You and more. Unjustly given an X rating and banned in the UK upon its release, Babylon is an underseen and unforgettably funny and moving musical adventure that deserves to be seen on the big screen!
