Derek Fawcett Biography
“Derek Fawcett presents austere singer-songwriter stuff of surpassing grace. He's a singer who knows his range, performing songs that show off his big instrument. There's been buzz around this dude for a while. Find out why.”-Kevin Williams, Chicago Tribune
Singing that soars and sighs, Songs that simmer and soothe. Derek Fawcett’s music is both a fellow traveler of the wistful reflections of Jackson Browne and the sprawling void of Bon Iver.
"Running Outta Somedays", heavily influenced by tutelage from Rosanne Cash, and "Sticks And Stones" ft. Dev, a product of his study with mentor Phil Galdston, represent bold new musical ventures: His first since relocating to New York City. These follow The Winter Clothes EP (featured on 93XRT in Chicago), his full-length solo debut, FEEL BETTER was featured in Huffington Post and Fox 2 St. Louis, and Sing Along) raucous collection of live performances from the FEEL BETTER release tour.
His solo success follows a thrilling ride as a member of Chicago's beloved acoustic quartet Down The Line. Across their span of five albums (including Open The Door, which was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville featuring Chad Cromwell (Neil Young, Mark Knopfler) on drums), they criss-crossed the US, sharing stages with Peter Frampton, Ben Folds, America, Lifehouse, Pat Benatar, Gin Blossoms, Colin Hay, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Blind Melon, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
