Courtney Fadlin

Courtney Fadlin is an internationally renowned Guyanese-American saxophonist, known for his signature style and silky-smooth delivery. Surrounded by music from an early age, Courtney was influenced by his father, a music teacher and church organist whom he wanted to emulate.

He learned to play the piano, steel pan, violin and clarinet and also sang in the school and church choirs. His musician dad, Jethro, was a perfectionist and encouraged the same from his son. Courtney sometimes had a problem playing the clarinet and told his father that something was wrong with the instrument, not with his playing. Courtney's dad introduced him to the Tenor sax the same morning he needed to play for church and his clarinet wasn't working; that piqued his interest and created a love affair with the instrument.

Initially self-taught on the saxophone, he attended West Indies College in Jamaica; Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts; University of Massachusetts; and California Baptist University where he honed his skills in saxophone, clarinet and flute.

Throughout his 20+ year career, he has refined his undeniable sound, an achievement attested to on his eight recording albums. He has built a solid fan base that consists of listeners of every generation from all over the world. Through his latest albums, “Still Standing” and “Hymnology 2”, Courtney continues to build his reputation as an outstanding Jazz Saxophonist and gains global recognition for his performances.

Courtney and his sax seem melded as one when he picks up the instrument. The notes which come from that horn are magical!
