About this concert
Matsumura Blues Festival is an exciting new music festival launching on 1 June 2024. It will be a "big day in" as ten bands perform at the iconic Prince Bandroom in St Kilda. The Festival offers a unique line-up of leading Australian and international blues and rock musicians, blending their tunes with some traditional Okinawan and Japanese artists, to deliver what will be a brilliant and memorable musical experience. The Australian headline artist, 19-Twenty, is an infectious riff and grove based blue-billy-grass-rockin’-roots band. 19-Twenty has been whipping up a frenzy on the festival scene with their electric and supercharged performances, and need little introduction. Come and join the "19-Twenty" party!Equipped with an old Goldtop and a Farmer Foot Drum, Minnie Marks will leave you gob-smacked with her dynamic guitar wizardry, original tunes, and her insanely powerful voice. Minnie regularly tours throughout Australia and Europe and her fans can’t seem to get enough! The International headline artist, Okinawa Americana (JPN), will showcase a new genre of music that has evolved in Okinawa, Japan, blending ancient Ryukyu Island traditional influences, woven with the rich tapestry of American rock, rhythm, and blues. David Ralston is born and bred in Indiana, US, a master on the slide guitar, and makes you feel for a moment as if you are floating down the Mississippi River. Some of David’s early albums were produced by Eric Clapton’s producer, Delaney Bramlett. Megumi "Merry" Gushi will play the three-stringed Sanshin and sing some of her songs are in the ancient Okinawan language. An experience not to be missed!Other brilliant Festival artists include Doggerel, Mark Easton & The Delta Khans (QLD), The Windsavers, Dalicados, Phil Para Band, George & Noriko, Sayaka Ohno, Sonorous (NZ) and Okinawan drumming dancers: Eisa Champ Roo. (Please note: the constitution and order of the Artist lineup is subject to change without notice, in the unlikely event of Artist cancellation).Be a part of history by joining us for the inaugural launch of Matsumura Blues Festival in 2024. Minnie Marks Biography

With an insane talent that’s out of control playing what she calls dirty sweet rock & roll this young singer/songwriter/guitarist/multi instrumentalist has been eating up girl bands since 1994. Minnie Marks is not just some blazingly electrified acoustic guitar playing freak of nature, but also a rare and triple threat: Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Be warned, her show will take you on a dizzying, riff rock rollercoaster ride with songs written over the past years of her musical journey around the world. Touring a new album release recorded live in Germany, named 'LIVE IN STUTTGART' this bombshell explodes on stage pushing the limits of her guitar, vocals and performance, kicking arse and playing to packed out shows, leaving little doubt everybody is touting her as ‘the next big thing’. Be it a festival audience or a bar room packed like a can of Sardines, she DOES NOT disappoint. Minnie is proudly endorsed by Elixir Strings, Woodskin Cajons, AER Amplifiers and Wegen Picks. “Minnie Marks, she plays guitar like nothing I’ve ever seen before, she sings like Janis Joplin, she’s going to blow the world apart.” – Kim Churchill "Damn, I don't think I've ever seen a female shred harder than you in the flesh" - Dallas Frasca “You’re awesome, Let’s jam again soon” - Joe Robinson “So I heard you’re better than my brother” - Phil Emmanuel “You rock..man. It's not easy to fill that much space with only an acoustic, but you were killing it! I hope we get to jam in the future” - Tyler Bryant “You rock baby, you’re killing it. The world is your oyster. If I were an army lieutenant with a shirt full of medals I would give you one. You’re my hero, I’m shakin’ in my boots. One word, PRODIGY!” - Sarah McLeod (ex Superjesus) “One of the finest young guitar players in the country” - Julz Parker (Hussy Hicks) “SHREDS!” – Mama Kin “Minnie Marks is an extraordinary performer, I have never seen or heard anything quite like her, Minnie plays guitar, sings and stomps like her every breath depends upon it, her passion and wonderful sense of fun is refreshing.” – Michael Barker (John Butler’s ex drummer, touring drummer for the Split Enz) “You have to come and see this girl, she makes every other musician look ordinary” –Gypsie Howls WEBSITE www.minniemarks.com Pushing the limits of dirty sweet rock n roll touting her "THE NEXT BEST THING" www.minniemarks.com
