Solkyri Biography

Solkyri are an instrumental rock band from Sydney, Australia. Formed in 2006, the group deliver moments that blend intense vulnerability with pure power built around the interplay of guitars and driving rhythms, with nods to math-rock, shoegaze and ambient music.

In February 2011, the band independently released their debut EP release titled 'No House'. The group played several successful shows throughout Australia, including performances with sleepmakeswaves, Meniscus and Laura. In May 2013, the quartet signed with Bird's Robe Records and released their first full-length record titled 'Are You My Brother?'. This record showcases a newfound maturity as it displays the band's intention to experiment musically outside of the world of post-rock.

In 2014, the band invited their close friend Ryan Fitz-Henry to join the group on guitars and keyboards. In April 2015, the group would pen their first offering as a four-piece with the release of the second album titled 'Sad Boys Club'. The album demonstrated a shift towards the band’s more direct approach to writing with its music being firm, unrelenting and emphatic.

In March 2020, the band will prepare to release their long-awaited third full length record titled 'Mount Pleasant'. With ‘Mount Pleasant’ the band strives to push the boundaries of both sides of its personality, its unyielding energy and its tender moments of intimacy. ‘Mount Pleasant’ is the culmination of years of personal reflection and rediscovery of passion.
