About this concert
Steve Wickham and Ray Coen return to the UK with their own dynamic brew of originality. The pure drop of songs and tunes from their home in the west of Ireland. Wickham and Coen are long time musical colleagues, performing together in the NoCrows, an eclectic folk Orchestra and in Steve?s own band the Beekeepers. Wickham released his Beekeeper album with Man in the Moon records in 2017 and is currently working on a new recordings which will be available in the near future. Steve has recorded on scores of albums since his debut appearing on U2?s War in 1982 going on to record with Elvis Costello, Sinead O Connor and The Waterboys among many other classic artists, he?s also played live with Dylan and REM. Opening the show will be Kelley Swindall, who is equally, at home in a biker bar or under a proscenium arch. She takes the stage solo, armed w/ her moxie and an acoustic guitar, singing about the stuff classic country, folk, and blues is made of: heartache, heartbreak, revenge, redemption, life, death, and those pesky existential musings in between; all filtered through a sassily sardonic, southern perspective, adeptly walking the line between humour and pathos.

Steve Wickham Biography

Steve Wickham, electric violinist, songwriter and composer is an award winning Irish artist. He made his recording debut with U2 on “Sunday Bloody Sunday’ in 1982. His distinctive playing has been a contribution to the Waterboys sound for over 30 years and he has performed with Mike Scott on some of the worlds great stages like the Carnegie Hall in New York, Sydney Opera House and The Royal Albert Hall.
Writing songs and music has been his life since his early days. He continues to explore new musical territory. Whether it’s on film or theatre or live.
From composing and performing a crossover with Sligo baroque orchestra and Congolese soukous band Tropicana Musica to his work with world music group NoCrows which incorporates gypsy jazz, classical and traditional Irish music, he’s always moving forward.
His solo work is a unique trip with a musician undefined and unfettered.
Two solo albums “Geronimo’ in 2006 and ‘Beekeeper’ 2017. Beekeeper shows an artist in full flow. His live show is full of incandescent playing, sensitivity and wit.
