About this concert
A Friday night of live music at Jamboree rich in the flavours of Brazil and Latin groove! Headliners Olayá are a new female-led flute and percussion band inspired by Northeastern Brazilian bandas de pifanos (bamboo flutes), with the elemental force of flutes, vocal harmonies, percussion and bass. Olaya's music is heavily rhythmic and contagiously fun, with quirky arrangements of traditional Brazilian tunes plus original compositions. After selling out their first London debut gig in May 2023, they have performed at London's Morocco Bound and Post Bar and at festivals such as Leeds Summer Concert Series, Basket of Light and Jam in a Round. Olaya are: Rosanna Ter-Berg (flutes, vocals) Rachel Hayter (flutes, vocals) Ines Loubet (vocals, percussionist) Julio de Castro (bassist, vocals) Jansen Santana (percussion) In support Inês Loubet plays compositions navigating through the influences of jazz, Latin-grooves and her native language, Portuguese. Tonight she will present the songs from her upcoming album 'SENGA'. Inês has performed solo at Union Chapel and opened for Brazilian legends Gilberto Gil & João Bosco at the 02. Her projects have been praised by the likes of Gilles Peterson and The Line of Best Fit, as well as earning her several UK and international tours and radio appearances at Jazz Fm and BBC Radio 3. She is also the recipient of the Drake Yolanda Award 2022, and an Arts Council Lottery Project Grant 2023 for her SENGA UK Tour.
