GOLDEN HOURS Biography

Golden Hours were conceived amidst the fall-out from cult Reading five-piece, The Wookies. From this former incarnation they inherited a well-honed knack for creating epic, genre re-defining songs. Taking influence from a range of sources, they have developed a reputation for cutting and splicing sounds and genres to create an altogether unique style: angular, spaced-out rock with an experimental pop edge. Their music combines the frenzied passion of Arcade Fire, the synth-led melodrama of Muse and the smouldering ambience of Pink Floyd. Golden Hours have also inherited their former identity’s extensive performing, recording and overall DIY ethic. The band’s pride in their independent approach was justified when their EP, Sparks was released on Josaka/Broken Tail Records and garnered BBC Radio airplay from Steve Lamacq and Stuart Maconie, as well as Germany’s POPSCENE in 2009. The record received praise for the way in which it captured the passion, vivacity and sublime cheekiness of this most peculiar modern band. We do care but sometimes it's hard to see through the clouds. Epic art-rock www.thegoldenhours.co.uk
