About this concert
Rocket Science are excited to announce their new single ‘Fashion Emergency’, and their long awaited sixth studio album ‘Push Play’, both set to be released via the band’s new home, Cheersquad Records & Tapes. The band will also embark on a 9-date East Coast tour to support the new release playing Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, alongside regional shows in Ballarat, Geelong, Castlemaine, Bulli, Woy Woy, and Currumbin.‘Fashion Emergency’, the new single from Rocket Science depicts a world that is forever obsessed with minutiae and the self. ‘Our reliance on fashion and cheap manufacturing to keep us amused lead us on to a hostile, dystopian future. Fashion Emergency sees the audience become voyeurs in an irony free and urgent conversation between a stylist, photographer, and makeup artist. The model is not invited into the discussion. AND NEITHER ARE WE!’ A future dance floor hit and thought piece, ‘Fashion Emergency’ will make you shimmy and shake to a beat that cannot be stopped, in a space without meaning ……..Now in their 25th year together, Rocket Science are releasing their sixth long player ‘Push Play’, and sources close to the band say it's their best album yet! Conceived and nurtured in NAARM (Melbourne) during the long dark nights of lockdown, ‘Push Play’ reveals the many faces of Rocket Science's myriad influences, musical, social, sartorial, and chemical.Recorded and produced by the band and guitarist Paul Maybury at his A Secret Location Sound Recorders studio and mixed by Paul ‘Woody’ Annison, nothing was left unexplored, no flight of imagination unfollowed in the creation of this work!Rocket Science shows are a phenomenon that can only be truly appreciated in person. Playing at venues near you in Oct-Nov 2023, the ‘Push Play’ album launch tour will deliver flavours old, new, and sometimes askew, so come along, see what the fuss is about, and then you too can reply when asked what it was like, ‘You had to be there'.Doors 9pmRocket Science 9.30pm

Rocket Science Biography

1) Rocket Science was an emo/indie band, active in the mid 1990's. They released two 7"s, both in 1996. Fans of Christie Front Drive will like this.

2) Rocket Science emerged from Melbourne in mid-1998. The indie rock four-piece, which consists of Roman Tucker (vocals), Kit Warhurst (drums), Dave Gray (bass), and Paul Maybury (guitar), had dreams of making it big in music since childhood. They compose a gritty, glam rock sound that's a little more edgy than the Vines' candied punk. Their first song, "Welcome Aboard," was written on the same day Rocket Science came together. From there, they built an Australian following, which later collected U.K. fans. Opening dates with Mudhoney and the Supersuckers following into 2000 and their debut full-length, Welcome Aboard the 3C10, appeared the next year. Rocket Science's sleazy, arrogant style was a buzz well into 2002 when they recorded the sophomore effort, Contact High. It wouldn't see a release date in Europe until mid-2003; however, fans tied themselves over with the electric Run Like a Gun EP which appeared earlier that spring.
