About this concert
?Susheela Raman always takes new turns. From her 2001 debut album Salt Rain?s tamil-and-jazz, to tamil-plus-qawali singing on Queen Between in 2013, to Ghost Gamelan in 2018 with its extraordinary combination of Indonesian gamelan, Carnatic singing and John Lennon, she?s always going into new musical territory and getting rave reviews for her live performances. ?Now her journey takes Susheela to the heart of England through the works of poet and artist William Blake. Susheela and guitarist Sam Mills go beyond ?Jerusalem? into Blake?s Prophetic Books, mixing recital and song, including The Proverbs of Hell and A Poison Tree among Blake?s memorable writings. ?Like Ghost Gamelan, this is a project in the making. There?s no finished article - each performance is different. This is a unique opportunity to witness an artist and a work evolving.? Chris Gilchrist will be reading some of William Blake's poetry.
