Ivy Sole Biography
Ivy Sole is a rare hybrid of sultry and soulful R&B paired with undeniable hip-hop lyricism. The Michelle Obama co-signed artist both sings and raps, with equal panache and measure, about topics like mental health, black radicalism and self-love.
As a Charlotte, NC native and current Philly resident, Ivy weaves her gospel and southern rap influences from her upbringing, with the spoken-word poetry and boom-bap she picked up later in life. This combination, paired with her willingness to be open and brutally honest about her experience as a Black, Queer, Woman in hip-hop is what makes her music so compelling and unique—yet somehow relatable.
As a fully independent and self-released musician, Ivy has earned praise from fans and critics alike, with features in Spotify’s flagships like Alternative R&B, Pollen, and the Official Michelle Obama Playlist, in addition to support from Noisey, DJ Booth, Pitchfork & many more.
Listed along with Meg the Stallion as one of 5 Women in Hip-Hop Watch in 2019 by DJ Booth, Ivy is poised for her breakout moment. Her EP SOUTHPAW was released in November 2020 and her forthcoming album is expected this summer.
