About this concert
Mammoth Penguins For the uninitiated, Mammoth Penguins are a 3-piece indie pop powerhouse, showcasing the songwriting and vocal talents of Emma Kupa (Standard Fare, The Hayman Kupa Band) backed up by the noisiest rhythm section in indie pop. https://mammothpenguins.bandcamp.com/merch Firestations Firestations are Michael Cranny, Laura Copsey, Martin Thompson, Tom Hargreaves and Neil Walsh. Together they make music spanning genres from shoegazey indie to synth pop and harmony-driven psychedelia. Their second album 'The Year Dot' was released on Lost Map Records in 2018 and was hailed by The List magazine for ?pursuing ambitious social commentaries while playfully teasing its own sonic glitches?. New album 'Thick Terrain' was released (also on Lost Map) in July 2023. A clear-eyed and bold statement, it deftly combines big ideas with pop sensibilities in a captivating way, making it the band?s most ambitious and accomplished work to date. It follows Firestations? expansive and explorative 2021 EP trilogy 'Automatic Tendencies', which garnered extensive radio and press support, with Marc Riley (BBC 6 Music) hailing the track ?Small Island? as ?a perfect pop song?. https://firestations.bandcamp.com/album/thick-terrain Afternoon Afternoon (of East Anglia) is a pen-pal songwriting and recording project between Anna Knowles (formerly of The Middle Ones) and Henry Ireland. https://intheafternoon.bandcamp.com/ *Venue and accessibility information* The venue is accessible from the street without any steps and once you?re inside, everything is on the same level (room where the bands will play, pub, toilets). A small area in the pub part of the venue is accessed by a step. The gig room is wheelchair accessible but unfortunately the toilets are not - there are no accessible toilets (i.e. toilets with grab bars or an alarm). Please speak to The Blue Moon to discuss any specific accessibility queries you may have.

'Thick Terrain' is being released on Lost Map Records on limited-edition 12” vinyl and digital platforms, with accompanying zine, on July 14, 2023. A clear-eyed and bold statement, it deftly combines big ideas with pop sensibilities in a captivating way, making it the band’s most ambitious and accomplished work to date. The band is touring in support of the record with dates in York and London on 12th and 15th July, and more to be announced soon (including Manchester, Glasgow and Bristol).
