Element Eighty Biography
Element Eighty is a nu metal / hard rock band from Texas in the United States. In November, 2005, they released their third album “The Bear” which was the latest after “Mercuric” and their self-titled number.
Members: David Galloway (vocals), Matt Woods (guitar), Ryan Carroll (drums), Zack Bates (bass).
There are many things that make bands continuously grind out long tours and record new albums. There is the hope of fame. There is the hope of wealth and the ability to live a life of luxury. But, remove all the sugar coating and you are left with the two reasons that make Element Eighty press on: The love of their music and respect. Since forming in 2000, the Texas quartet has seen some astronomical highs and some depressing lows.
In April of 2003, the band inked a deal with Universal/Republic Records. After releasing their self-titled debut album on October 28th, 2003, the band hit the road with such acts as Sevendust, Ill Nino, Flaw, 40 Below Summer and Mushroomhead. However, after several months of touring, the band could see that the label was not working for them. There was no video, no promotion, and a lack of interest in elevating the band to the next level. All of these things eventually led to the band's departure from the label in late 2004.
The band members knew it was time to get back to their basic roots, so they fired their agents and managers and started doing the work themselves. However, soon after their departure from the label and managers, original bassist Roon decided to leave the band. His spot was quickly filled by the band's current bassist, Zach Bates.
Armed with a new sound and new material, the band teamed back up with producer Eric Delegard, the man who defined the E-80 sound. With Eric behind the board, the band recorded The Bear, released in 2005 on Texas Cries Records.
Now Element Eighty is back with new songs and upcoming shows. Their third album is planned to drop summer 2023.
