SEX ON TOAST Biography

Sex on Toast are an irrepressibly charming 10 man organisation who specialise in raw early 80’s funk, hard-edged new jack swing, blazing improvisation and heartfelt blue-eyed soul. Currently residing in Melbourne, Australia, their choreographed stage act, complex arrangements, performative larrikinism and danceability have won the hearts of casual punters and hardcore fans alike, all across Australia. 2015 saw the release of their single “Oh Loretta!” with an accompanying video featuring Molly Meldrum, an exploding head and the best set design this side of Soul Train. Since 2014 Sex on Toast have performed across Australia and New Zealand at events such as Falls Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Here’s To Now Festival, Coastella Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Secret Garden Festival, St. Kilda Festival, Lost Paradise, Strawberry Fields, Waheike Jazz Festival and New Years on the Hill, as well as sharing stages with luminaries such as Internationally acclaimed comedian Neil Hamburger (USA), Hiatus Kaiyote, Kate Miller-Heidke, Mangelwurzel, Vaudeville Smash, The Bombay Royale, Miami Horror, The Fatback Band (USA) and countless others. 2016 saw the band complete a tour of New Zealand, whilst packing a solid 5 weeks at the Gasometer Hotel in Melbourne. They released the first installment of the two part Rough/Ready series ‘Ready’ to sold out crowds in Sydney and Melbourne. Spring’s Never Mind the Moog Tour saw them travelling to uncharted territory from Yamba to Perth and selling out their hometown show in Melbourne at Howler. 2017 will see the release of the second part of the Rough/Ready EP series ‘Rough’, focusing on new jack swing, nasty funk & searing slow jams. Coming soon to a theatre near you! Tonay! Oh Loretta! Don't Get Much Better!
