About this concert
Clock-Out Lounge Presents: Pansy Division w/ Biblioteka, Rat Queen Saturday September 30th 21+ $17adv/$20 dosThere have been gay musicians hidden throughout rock music history, butPansy Division when began in 1991 in San Francisco, they were the first to beso boldly open about it. Founded by guitarist/singer Jon Ginoli and soon joinedby bassist/singer Chris Freeman, with the intent of forming a gay rock band,Pansy Division blew the closet doors open.Raised on a diet of 60s pop and 70s punk, their sound was suitably crunchy andcatchy as hell. They wrote in-your-face lyrics, but did it with a sense of humor. Not only did their music and stance defy stereotypic norms of rock musiciansbeing openly gay, they also broke gay cultural stereotypes that rock wouldntinterest gay people.https://pansydivision.bandcamp.com/https://open.spotify.com/artist/5BeIu3RlLhFDNTWo7wpxheLed by singer/bassist Mary Robins, Biblioteka blends grunge, punk, and garage to create hooky punk and upbeat rock. Boisterous shows and high-energy performances have become the bands trademark. Austin Town Hall describes single track Tick Tock as very The Hives vibe with a touch of 60s era garage/fuzz rock. Biblioteka released their debut full-length album Pretty Ugly in 2022 via Freakout Records.https://ratqueen.bandcamp.com/album/generational-decay
