About this concert
Writer of some of the biggest indie hits of the 90's, Mark Morriss is a singer songwriter who famously made his name fronting indie outfit The Bluetones. He played in the four piece over a successful and fruitful 15 year period, scoring 14 top ten singles and 3 top ten albums. Mark released his debut solo album, ?Memory Muscle?, in May 2008. A folk-tinged record that has more in common with the West Coast '70s country-rock of Love and Neil Young than the jangly guitar sound of his indie days, it still contains the same sweet whimsical melodies and gentle Home Counties-accented vocals he's renowned for but here backed by Nashville-tinged acoustics and shuffling folk rhythms. A subtle change in direction that suits his dark dry wit and increasingly world-weary vocals down to the ground. Since that time, he has released three further well -received solo albums and has also recorded the theme music for the audio versions of all the children's books written by David Walliams. A very busy musician, Mark has collaborated with Matt Berry and the Maypoles, Mike Wilton, and The Helicopter Of The Holy Ghost on tours and on record. But he still finds time to regularly play solo acoustic shows across the UK. As a live performer Mark blends songs from his extensive back catalogue with stories of his time on the road, providing an entertaining show that prides itself on never being the same twice. His style combines a serious love of music and song, tempered with amity and jocularity. It makes for a set of easy-going acoustic songs and a camaraderie that brings a warmth to everyone in the audience.

Mark Morriss Biography

Mark Morriss is a singer songwriter who famously made his name fronting English indie outfit The Bluetones. Mark fronted the four piece over a successful and fruitful 15 year period, scoring 14 top ten singles and 3 top ten albums, whilst touring the UK, Europe and Japan. At the back end of 2011 the decision was made to disband The Bluetones, resulting in a shock farewell tour. Hordes of loyal Bluetones fans turned out in their thousands to give the band they called their own, a fond and sad farewell. A case of unfinished business, Mark Morriss has now turned his attentions to his solo career. After releasing 'Memory Muscle ' in 2008, Mark has since penned material for a new record. Due for an Autumn release, early demos recorded with long standing Producer, Gordon Mills (Ed Sheeran/Newton Faulkner) have sparked great excitement from fans and industry a-like. Fans have been treated to a two track giveaway in 'Low Company' & 'Guilty Again' through the official website www.markmorriss.me Touring extensively throughout the remainder of 2012 and gearing towards the much anticipated album release, you can catch Mark Morriss live as he continues to tour up and down the UK.
