Matt Pearce & The Mutiny Biography

Matt Pearce & The Mutiny released their smokin’ hot, debut album ‘Gotta Get Home’ on 3rd May ‘19 through Mutinear Records, and a day later it was #1 in the Amazon Best Selling Blues Albums and Hot New Releases charts, while garnering an amazing collection of glowing reviews from the Blues and Rock press, excerpts below.
Debut single 'Set Me Free' was playlisted by Planet Rock radio and became an Amazon Blues Song #1, and is up to over 100,000 streams on Spotify.

The first steps into the live arena in 2019 were a huge success with storming shows all across the UK and as far afield as Russia. Festivals included HRH Blues, Winterstorm, Cambridge Rock Fest, HRH C.R.O.W.S. and British Blues Invasion/Moscow, a Sold Out debut London show upstairs at the iconic Garage venue, and a UK tour supporting Laurence Jones.
2020 had a great start with appearances at Skegness Rock and Blues, Planet Rock’s Winter’s End and Legends Of Rock events, and a support with the legendary Savoy Brown before all touring plans were postponed.

The self-produced debut album features Matt Pearce as lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter, aided and abetted by some top tier, London blues scene talent.
“I wanted to combine the sounds that I love: rocking blues and funky, soulful grooves. I could call it a ‘Funky Soul-a-delic Blues Rock Jam Thing’, but you can just call it a seriously funky blues band, like the Black Crowes playing Prince songs, or vice versa..."

London-based, Glasgow-born, Matt is an original member of the successful hard rock outfit Voodoo Six. Matt has released five albums with V6, the most recent recorded in L.A. at Steve Vai’s “Mothership Studios”, and their latest studio album is underway.
‘Gotta Get Home’ was mixed by Matt Pearce’s V6 bandmate Tony Newton, who produced Iron Maiden’s recent live release, “The Book of Souls”.

A selection of glowing praise for Matt's debut release:
‘Think Stevie Ray Vaughan guesting with Gov't Mule and you are getting close to the excellence on display. If this album had been released by one of the ‘established’ blues giants, it would be lauded to the skies… and so it should be.’
BLUESDOODLES

'As if Prince is jamming with Bonamassa. One of the most confident, classy and promising blues debuts in ages.'
MAXIMUM VOLUME

'A swishy, funky display of blues'n'roll, there are more-ish chops aplenty.'
CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE

'A guitarist of real skill... an ability to craft and develop memorable songs. An all round talent, that's rare.'
MALCOLM DOME, CLASSIC ROCK

'A welcome shot in the arm to blues rock. Sounds vintage and modern at the same time!'
DARREN REDICK, PLANET ROCK

'It’s hard to know where to start in an assessment of this darn fine album. Pearce has a highly individual style, and presents this collection of songs with an assurance and confidence that so many musicians lack. The result is a superb debut album that grabs you from the opening chord to the last one, and deserves multiple listens.'
UBER ROCK

'Exemplary playing, well-written, produced and arranged songs – delivered with confidence.
What’s not to love about that? ****'
GET READY TO ROCK

'If you like your blues with a tinge of rock, a lot of funk and a bucketful of soul then you won’t go wrong buying this.'
JACE MEDIA

'Expert blues-guitar wrapped around elements of soul and funk adding up to a tasty dish which oozed quality.'
METALTALK

'The tracks make for charming and easy listening – there aren’t many under the blues spell who would turn their nose up at a spicy mix of Crowes, Purple and Bonamassa.'
HEAVY MAG

'It's technically great and gorgeously satisfying and for that earns a 5/5'
ROCK MEDIA UK

'Well here's an unexpected pleasure – and it’s pretty damn good, folks. An album of originals that’s imbued with appealing freshness and enthusiasm from start to finish, a sound that is distinctively and effectively that of Matt Pearce & The Mutiny.'
BLUES ENTHUSED

'What a joy it is, this will funkfortify your day…It has a bootsy groove and is sufficiently power-packed with everlasting soul to bring you eternal jubilation.'
