About this concert
Eno presents a new live concert – Ships, with Kristjan Järvi, commissioned by La Biennale di Venezia and featuring new and classic music from decades of innovation. The legendary composer, musician and producer’s new concert features an orchestral adaptation of his 2016 album, The Ship, performed with Baltic Sea Philharmonic, orchestrated and conducted by Kristjan Järvi. The show also features the actor Peter Serafinowicz and long-time collaborators, guitarist Leo Abrahams and programmer Peter Chilvers. This series of concerts marks Brian Eno’s first live tour in his five-decade solo career – it’s also his first appearance with an orchestra. Eno has only ever played a handful of solo shows. The last time, in 2021 at the Acropolis in Athens, he played with his brother Roger Eno to a standing ovation from a sold-out theatre. His latest is another once-in-a-lifetime event – a chance to see a unique innovator whose mind birthed ambient music, and whose influence touched Roxy Music, Bowie and Talking Heads. These performances also coincide with his attendance at the 2023 Venice Biennale Musica, where he is being honoured with the Golden Lion lifetime achievement award. Ships was originally commissioned by La Biennale di Venezia for a premiere performance at the 2023 Biennale Musica.
