About this concert
Rupert Wates has been a full time songwriter since the late 1990s, when he signed a publishing contract with Eaton Music Limited. In London he worked with some of the best performers in the city. After moving in 2001 to Paris, he is now based in New York City and Colorado. Since arriving in the US in 2006, he has won more than 50 songwriting and performing awards.
Wates has released 12 CDs, each an eclectic mix of acoustic, melodic art/folk, with flavours of jazz, vaudeville and cabaret. They have received outstanding reviews in the international online press and tracks from them have been played on radio all over the world. In 2010, Joe?s Café, an album of songs based on true stories, each interpreted by a different vocalist, traced the story of America through two world wars, the Dust Bowl depression, Vietnam and the struggle for Civil Rights, all the way to the present day.
Rupert Wates was voted an Artist Of The Year in both 2013 and 2016 by the international house concert network Concerts In Your Home. He performs sometimes alone, sometimes with his trio or his quartet. He prefers smaller listening rooms where the audience is up close and the emphasis is on the music. That would be us!
Despite Wates' British background, and underpinning the universality of his music's appeal, Folk And Acoustic Music Exchange has called him "a prime figure in American music'' and goes on: "This is one gifted sonofabitch... If you're not hip to this guy yet you're missing out."

Cabaret Biography
Several bands seem to share this name. Also, there are a few tracks that might appear here from theatrical montages of Cabaret, the musical. (Which explains the similar artists being all musical-related)
-Cabaret is a 1966 Broadway musical set in Berlin in 1929 through 1930 during the run-up to the coming to power of the Nazis under Adolf Hitler. The musical is comprised of the book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Fred Ebb and music by John Kander.
It is based on John Van Druten's play I Am a Camera, which was in turn based on the novel Goodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood. Its initial run was produced and directed by Hal Prince and starred Bert Convy, Jack Gilford, Jill Haworth, Lotte Lenya, Joel Grey, Peg Murray, and Edward Winter. Such soundtrack as the:
-Original Broadway cast
-New Broadway Cast Recording 1998
-Cabaret Motion Picture Soundtrack
- Brazilian band Cabaret hails from Rio de Janeiro, formed after the demise of a previous underground hit called Glamourama. Their sound is heavily influenced by glam rock, also incorporating some Brazilian rock elements. Currently (as of February 2007) the band is comprised of Marvel (vocals), Myself Deluxe (bass), Peter Glitter (guitar) and De la Foca (drums).
Cabaret has somewhat of a cult status after their first album, "Cabaret", received a wide span of good reviews from both the alternative and mainstream Brazilian music press. The band is also known for their theatrical live performances, often gaining new fans after energetic performances, specially of underground hits "Messias Pessoal", "Dama da Noite" and "Cadáver no Palco". The band's website is http://www.radiocabaret.com.br .
- The Polish Cabaret was formed in 1997 by two friends: Jarosław Pawlik and Mariusz Radecki. But it is the year 2000, when a new musician - Michał ‘IA’ Bieniek (ex-Noise Gate) - joins CABARET, that can actually be considered the initial date of the band’s conscious artistic activity. It is also then that the band first starts achieving minor triumphs.
