Bozar donne carte blanche à une pépite de la scène belge de jazz avant-garde et free?: la clarinettiste et saxophoniste belge Hanne De Backer. Que ce soit en solo ou dans diverses formations, la musicienne met son souffle au profit de sons organiques, vivants et vibrants. À Bozar, elle partage la scène avec des musicien·nes qui, comme elle, aiment explorer les textures et laisser libre cours à leur inspiration sans bornes. La pianiste polonaise Marta Warelis et la bassiste autrichienne Beate Wiesinger ont en commun de ne faire qu’un avec leur instrument, la première n’hésitant d’ailleurs pas à se passer du clavier pour entrer en contact direct avec les cordes du piano. Elles sont rejointes par le batteur américain de haut vol, Hamid Drake, qui a collaboré avec Don Cherry, Herbie Hancock, Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp, entre autres grands noms.

Hamid Drake Biography
Hamid Drake (b. Monroe, Louisiana, August 3, 1955) is an American jazz drummer and percussionist. He lives in Chicago, IL but spends much of his time traveling around the world for concerts and studio dates.
He first became known for his work with Chicago tenor saxophonist Fred Anderson. Drake was one of the founders, along with Foday Musa Suso and Adam Rudolph, of The Mandingo Griot Society. His other frequent collaborators include New York bassist William Parker, saxophonist David Murray, composer and percussionist Adam Rudolph, German free jazz saxophonist Peter Brötzmann, fellow drummer Michael Zerang and Chicago free jazz saxophonist Ken Vandermark.
In addition to the drum set, he also performs on the frame drum, the tabla, and other hand drums.
