The ITG Presents concert series is pleased to introduce Lenny Lashley's Gang of One at Argyle Brewing Company's Cambridge Depot on June 4, 2023. Doors 5pm, Music 6pm - - - About Lenny Lashley's Gang of One: Folk singer and punk rock icon Lenny Lashley released his latest album Five Great Egrets under the moniker Lenny Lashleys Gang of One in late November of 2022 via Omerta MIA. The follow-up to the Darkbuster frontmans 2019 solo effort, All Are Welcome, Lashleys album is a deeply personal but no less enthralling exploration of the Bostonian punk icons life experiences through a fusion of heartland rock, folk rock, and punk-infused Americana. The album title came to me on a morning drive along the coast where I live, recalls singer-songwriter Lenny Lashley. I saw what I thought were five herons, but they were actually great egrets. Thematically, its the same as the rest of my solo material. All of the stuff that I write is directly related to my personal life in one way or another. Five Great Egrets was engineered and produced by Pete Steinkopf at Little Eden in Asbury Park, NJ during fall 2020. Ive been fortunate to have folks that are remarkable musicians contribute because they like me as a person and believe in me, vows Lashley. His backing band features first-rate musicians as well as fellow Bostonians including Joe Sirios (The Mighty Mighty BossToneS), Tim Brennan (Dropkick Murphys), Johnny Rioux (Street Dogs), C.J. Ramone (Ramones), Pete Steinkopf (The Bouncing Souls), Sam Bey (The Parlor Mob), Jared Hart (Mercy Union), and others. Lenny Lashley's Gang Of One has had an exciting few months of touring with artists Dave Hause, Will Hoge, Mercy Union, etc. Lenny is currently direct support for Tim Barry's weekend tours while Lenny is on a short solo tour during the first week of June. LENNY LASHELY'S GANG OF ONE is the latest project from the former Darkbuster frontman. A longtime fixture in the Boston punk scene, Lenny has been playing and touring with his original music for over 16 years. After a traumatic run of Europe in ' 08 (resulting in a mental breakdown) and a few years of reflection, Lenny has re-emerged onto the scene, playing solo acoustic shows and even a Darkbuster reunion show.
A good friend (Joe Koukos [Holdfast Records, Asbury Park, NJ]) introduced Lenny to Bouncing Souls guitarist, Pete Steinkopf, to record and produce a 3 song 7" picture disc record. Originally intended to be a singer/songwriter styled recording, the project took a life of its own with luminaries Pete Steinkopf and Bryan Keinlen from The Bouncing Souls and Joe Sirois from The Mighty Mighty Bosstones lending their talents to the recording. Following the release of the EP, Lenny began to record his follow-up effort, a 10 song full length record. Once again, Pete, Bryan, and Joe joined in, as well as Bouncing Souls drummer Michael McDermott and many other talented musicians.
The result was "Illuminator." Co-released by Pirates Press Records and Panic State Records, these ten new original tunes run the gamut of straight up rock to heart wrenching acoustic tunes. It documents some of what life has dealt Lenny over the past few years and how he has come to deal with it and is undoubtedly Lenny Lashley's best work to date!
