The Dirty Low Down Biography
There are only a few methods of escape from the drudgery of life. Most turn to their vices. For Quinn Chavez and Gabe Daley it was music that helped them wash away the sour taste of selling one’s personality for a living. They didn’t need much honestly. Just a cheap amp, a drum kit, a garage, and dope name would do. After reflecting on the failures of previous projects, the two decided to only play music honestly and channel their passions into something real. They resolved to name their concept The Dirty Low Down. Soon, co-worker and internet friends like Carlo Swepson, Quinten Whalen, and Jess “Rookie” Dailey joined up. Meeting up on the weekends over the course of several months, the group had fleshed out the barebones of a handful of songs.
With the potential success of a shared vision, The Dirty Low Down set out to do things right releasing their first two singles Undercut and Leveled Up. The guitar work is nestled between grimy and crisp. The bass lines tether the groove, cementing the sometimes heavy, yet progressive drums. The vocals heighten every song as melodies coalesce alongside refreshing, yet unreserved lyricism. Due to professional responsibilities, Jess moved on in late 2018 to focus on releasing more intimate tracks as Rookie Music. After months of searching and auditioning, a local firecracker of a vocalist found an affinity with the group. With the pipes and drive of Michael Lowe, TDLD has entered a new phase of writing, recording, and performance. Expect new music and new events in the coming year as The Dirty Low Down grows alongside the burgeoning music scene of the Queen City.
