About this concert
Described by BBC Radio as a “rising star of British Jazz” Duncan Eagles is attracting attention for his distinctive sound and virtuosic improvising. Based in London, he performs regularly at venues and festivals all over the world, and recently opened for Joshua Redman at the Barbican Concert Hall. Duncan is also recognised for his work with critically acclaimed band, Partikel, which was nominated for “Best Jazz Ensemble” at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards. Eagles describes his brand of jazz as “cinematic and expressive”, painting a picture for the listener to experience each song as a collection of individual stories. His music combines many influences, bringing funk, blues, and avant garde into the fundamentals of jazz. The quartet, consisting of Duncan Eagles (Tenor Saxophone), Tomasz Bura (Piano), Max Luthert (Double Bass), Zoe Pascal (Drums), will perform a selection of music from their latest album, ’Narrations’ (which was released on the renowned Ropeadope label), as well as songs from his previous four albums. The band’s raw and spontaneous energy ensures a fresh and unique performance every time!
