About this concert
The constant of change has, deliberately or not, been one of the driving forces of Halifax's Hillsburn. From its early days as a harmony-heavy folk outfit to three albums spent evolving and expanding its full-band sound to its current iteration as an indie-pop four-piece, songcraft has been the steadfast centre of an often-shifting musical outlook. Its latest EP, Stories, is a culmination of growth and upheaval, movement and loss, the sound of something new being forged in the moment.

Hillsburn Biography
Hillsburn is an indie pop band from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
After wrapping up touring in support of 2018’s The Wilder Beyond, Hillsburn spent much of 2019 workshopping songs for a new album. That process led to an exchange of demos and eventual collaboration with Grammy nominated producer Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, Mother Mother). Recording in Vancouver as the pandemic set in in March 2020, Hillsburn drew on Redekopp’s extensive experience to craft Slipping Away, their most refined effort to date. While the energy and urgency of their earlier work remain intact, the stylistic focus is a little tighter, the musical contrasts slightly more subdued. The album is set for release in May 2021.
