Jimmy Wallace Biography

Based in Nashville, TN, Jimmy Wallace is a GRAMMY-nominated musician, songwriter, producer and artist. Originally hailing from Shreveport, LA, Wallace started playing his primary instrument, the piano, at age 7, with his professional career starting at age 20 as a Hammond B-3 Organ and Piano player for the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band.

As a live touring musician, Wallace currently performs with The Wallflowers alongside lead singer, Jakob Dylan, and Joe Walsh which has led to performances with Bad Company and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

When Wallace is off the road, he works as a studio session musician. Trusted by a variety of talented artists and producers, he has worked on projects for John Oates, Michael Franti, Bonnie Bishop, Trigger Hippy, Jewel, Jack Ingram, Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Parker McCollum, Jon Randall, David Z, T-Bone Burnet and Steve Jordan, amongst others.

As a songwriter, Wallace has had cuts with The McCrary Sisters, 18 South, Seth Walker, and Bonnie Bishop, and regularly collaborates with other writers and artists.

Wallace is currently working on his next solo project, with ten years of inspiration under his belt since his last release, ‘Working for Peanuts.’ The 2010 concept album was written, recorded and produced himself, and encompasses Wallace’s vast range of tasteful style and composition inspired by pop culture and original Peanuts composer Vince Guaraldi.

Wallace is also a co-founding member of 18 South, a culmination of acclaimed songwriters and Nashville’s best session musicians collaborating to create Soulful Southern roots music. The band also consists of Jessi Alexander, Jon Randall, Mike Bub, Larry Atamanuik and Guthrie Trapp. They regularly perform at Nashville’s legendary Station Inn, and have also performed festivals across the country, including Telluride Bluegrass and Strawberry Music Fest in Yosemite National Park.

The first 12 years of Wallace’s professional career was spent as the Hammond B-3 Organ and Piano player for the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band. His musical expression as a keys player was an integral part of the sound on chart-topping albums Ledbetter Heights, Trouble Is and award winning 10 Days Out: Blues from the Backroads. The band toured internationally both independently and with musical icons including: the Eagles, Aerosmith, Van Halen, B.B. King, The Black Crowes, Jimmy Page, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones.

Wallace is currently available for hire as a live and studio musician, and is happy to take enquiries for collaboration as a writer or producer.
