About Newscast: Jackson-based indie pop duo Newscast has announced their new single “Bet (Mirror Talk)” off their upcoming sophomore EP Hi, Hello, set to release in July. The single will be available to stream and purchase on all major music platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play.
An EP with real body and confidence that seamlessly transfuses the band’s future with its own pop roots, Hi, Hello ushers in a new phase for Newscast. The leading single, “Bet (Mirror Talk),” is the bridge between the band’s life to date and its life to come. Complex and assured, Newscast’s synth and guitar arrangements glimmer atop gigantic drums. Recorded live in a remote cabin with three-story high ceilings, Logan Owensby’s tight percussion drives each pulse of Hi, Hello, and offers listeners an echoed glimpse into the EP’s sanctuary. Salar Almakky’s vocal maturity and lyrical vulnerability unifies each part of the EP and he lives in a constant bliss with his musical support. The result is a theatrical, fully-formed pop release that marks an exciting step forward for Newscast.

Newscast Biography
Armed with a synth-fueled, sugarcoated pop sound that harkens back and looks forward at once, Newscast is in the business of validating novelty. A dancefloor answer to the grindhouse of routine and industry, Newscast is music that repeats the right way. Newscast is the creative child of Jackson, MS natives Hayden Boyd and Salar Almakky, who have been honing their synthonic chemistry for nearly a decade. Hayden prints shirts and Sal slings espresso to feed the proverbial beast and stay in the studio, in the van, and on the stereo. The shimmering keyboards of the Paisley Underground, the pulsing freedom of 80s radio, and the futuro dreamscapes of the 21st century all pass freely through Newscast’s music, finding a comfortable intersection in these songs that work as a counterforce to the seriousness of things. In the face of the modern world’s glinting teeth, Newscast has chosen to arm themselves in the melodic simplicities of pop music, with swords that dance and shields that sing.
