Nick Mantoan

Nick Mantoan is a young musician from Ivrea (To), Italy. Born in 1992, he was young when he had the first contact with music. He took up the guitar at the age of eight, and at ten started to take classical and jazz guitar lessons from Maurizio Verna.

The turning point came with a DVD of Men of Steel, a band composed by four great acoustic guitarists (Beppe Gambetta, Tony McManus, Don Ross, and Dan Crary.) Thus began to undertake the study of acoustic guitar taking part three times at the International Acoustic Guitar Workshop by Beppe Gambetta in Slovenia.

Continuing to study the instrument he was captured by the sounds of jazz and Pat Metheny became his undisputed idol. He took part in courses by teachers of Berklee College of Music in Boston at Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia in summer 2010.

In May 2011, for the Acoustic Guitar Meeting in Sarzana, Nick was invited by Taylor Guitars to play at the Taylor's stage, promoting the guitars of the homonym prestigious american brand.

In August 2011, he returned to the International Acoustic Guitar Workshop by Beppe Gambetta (also Tony McManus as a teacher) winning the prize of the best guitarist in the final contest.

The same summer , in August, Nick was invited and took part playing at the review Un Paese A Sei Corde, near Orta Lake, where many famous international guitarists played.

In February 2012 he released a CD recorded with the jazz/fusion band New Sound Jam Group, in which he signed five tunes as a composer.

In May 2012, Nick became endorser of the handmade amplifiers RL Technology, playing the head Blue Eyes 45, waiting for his Nick Mantoan Signature Model 100W made for him.

In October of the same year he won to tie the GreenAge competition at the Maison Musique in Rivoli earning a show, years later, at the Folk Club in Torino.

A few months later he is captured by the energy of rockabilly music and all genres that form it. Thus began his experience as frontman in several bands with which he performed live many times with great success.

In summer 2014 Surfin ‘Kids were formed, a trio that soon took place in the rockabilly scene, in which Nick is the vocalist and guitarist. Thanks to the collaboration with the production comoany, Twist & Shout from Milan, they played on many important stages , not only in Italy: Estragon in Bologna, Magnolia in Milano, New Age in Treviso, Fuori Orario in Reggio Emilia, Viper in Firenze, The Garage in London… to name a few.

At the beginning of 2016 Nick’s Airlines were born, a rock ’n’ roll band colored with garage, blues and country. The trio release two Albums ( Take Off (2016) and Sky Pirates (2018) ) and boast many shows in Europe.

With 2019, Nick decides to pursue a solo career, with his band, recording an Album that will be released in March:

Live activity will start immediately, bringing on the road his rock ’n’ roll show in which he experiments and mixes all his influences.



Nick studied at A. Vivaldi conservatory in Alessandria and took part at clinics by Ferenc Snètberger and Ralph Towner.
