Blue News Biography

The Blue News is an unsigned rock band from Indiana whose songs have been licensed two dozen times for television, Netflix series, video games and film. Songs by The Blue News are streamed thousands of times each month by fans around the world and the music reached over 1 million streams in October of 2019. The Blue News was formed in late 2005 by James Orn (vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and producer) from Terre Haute, Indiana. By 2006 the first album - Blue News - was released by Statue Records in Hollywood, California. The label offered a record release deal after their A&R heard songs on a previous solo album. Rather than release as a solo artist, James formed a band to record for a new album and play live shows. The music received national exposure in the US by 2007 when two songs written and self-released by Orn were chosen to be licensed for national television. The songs 'Love’s So Strong' and 'Next Time' (by The Blue News Project) were selected for the TV series Road Trip Nation airing on PBS. The band has released four more studio albums since the 2006 debut: "The Signs" by The Blue News Project (2007), "Strange Light" by Blue News (2008), "Wartime Songs" by The Blue News (2011) and the acoustic album "Naked" by The Blue News (2019).
