Joey Young Biography
Joey Young is a McKeesport, Pennsylvania singer-songwriting native, who was brought up within the community theater scene in his city. Throughout his years, he has strived to diversify the communities around him by being a representation of the queer community, as a proudly open and out gay man.
In February of 2020, he released his first single "Human Race" a dedication piece created in honor of his late aunt Andrea Cracolice to be released on the second anniversary of her passing. Following that he released a live audio experience of the first official live performance of "Human Race", along with a speech that he opened up the massive "Music in our Schools Month" concert that showcases talent from the entire McKeesport Area School District.
With almost an entire year in between his first release and his second official single, he captured his pain and suffering from what he calls "The worst 8 months of my life" into a powerful emotional ballad entitled "Breakthrough", which stands as a piece that speaks on mental health and changing the perspective from looking at being at your breaking point from a "breakdown" to a moment to grow and redefine the meaning of your pain into your "Breakthrough".
Which was released the first day of 2021, setting the stage for this insane entertainer's rise from sadness and despair to taking his power back and releasing his third official single "Scorpio" on May 14th of 2021. The song is a electro-dance pop track, inspired by his experiences with the misconceptions of being a scorpio. "I wanted to create a record where I could really talk about all of the bad things I had been called in my life as a scorpio, and find a way to really dive into the darkness of what people perceive me as based off of my sign, and discuss the way peoples' projections onto you change the way you can view yourself, even based off of something as simple as your sun sign."
