Even without their dynamic sax player, the 4 man travel team played a very solid couple of sets. All four were masters of their instruments and the featuring all those pedal steel leads helped give the band their unique sound. Manuel’s vocals were strong and soulful. Personally, I would have liked to have cranked the volume up a few clicks, but the nature of the venue dictated a less than a max rock-out volume. They played mostly covers with their own unique arrangements, dictated by the nature of the audience. But listening to their CDs of original songs on the ride home, I would enjoy seeing them again when they can showcase their talents at their full volume and creativity…with those horns kicking it up another notch!

Manuel the Band. Biography
Emerging from Long Beach,CA the Rock-Pop-Jam Band, Manuel The Band, was founded by songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Manuel Grajeda. Described as “a breath of fresh air” by Julie Montante of Coachella Valley Weekly, Manuel The Band has fused an unorthodox range of instruments not normally seen in the pop-music genre.
Manuel The Band has made an impression on the Southern California music scene with a unique sound stemming from influences such as John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band and Young the Giant. The band’s lineup consists of Brandon Charlesworth (Drums), George Madrid (Pedal Steel), Richard Fernandez (Trombone), Kevin Nowacki (Bass), and
Matt Kalin (Saxophone).
Manuel The Band’s first single “Casual Love” achieved positive reviews from Ear to Ground Music and Buzz Music LA, describing it as “distinctly modern with clear tone and clever lyrics.” Released 2018, “Casual Love” was recorded by Shea Thompson of Sonic Rockets Studio, mixed by Eric Corne, and mastered by Mark Chalecki. Their latest single, “Strong Independent Woman” achieved great success amongst reviewers as well as it, describing it as “warm and inviting” and a demonstration of “the band’s connection” (Buzz Music LA). The band’s first album, “Room for Complication,” is set to drop June 21st on all music platforms.
“I had heard through the grapevine that they rock…Without exaggeration they pretty much wowed everyone.” - Esther Sanchez (Coachella Valley Weekly). Manuel The Band’s energetic live show has brought them to stages such as Music Tastes Good Festival, NAMM 2019, House of Blues, Jam in the Van, Pappy and Harriet’s, and The Hotel Cafe to name a few. They have shared the stage with the likes of James Blake, New Order, Joey Bada$$, Matt Costa and The Church.
