About this concert
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra welcomes conductor Andrew Manze for Mussorgsky's rip-roaring Night on Bald Mountain, a centerpiece of Walt Disney's original animated feature film Fantasia. Also on the program, violin virtuoso Leila Josefowicz returns to play the 2016 Violin Concerto by Scottish composer Helen Grime. Maestro Manze closes the evening with Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 3, a work that moves between lyricism and exhilaration to a blazing finish.

Andrew Manze (born 14th January 1965, Beckenham) is an English baroque violinist and conductor.
Having first started playing the baroque violin while studying Classics at Cambridge University, he went on to study with Simon Standage, one of the founding members of The English Concert, at the Royal Academy of Music, followed by further studies with Lucy van Dael at La Haye.
In 1988 he became first violin of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Ton Koopman. He was also a member of the ensemble Romanesca with John Toll (harpsichord) and Nigel North (lute).
