About this concert
I’m excited to continue my dual streaming series on Thursday, May 20th at 8:00 PM with Rj Cowdery from Columbus, Ohio, who I met when she came to Pittsburgh to perform in the BurghSong concert series. Rj is the whole package—a clear direct singer, versatile flat-pick and finger-style guitarist and a songwriter covering a broad range of topics rooted in her unique Midwestern experience. She’s won awards that songwriters covet, like Kerrville, Mountain Stage NewSong, and Falcon Ridge Emerging Artist. Her albums have all been well received, including 2019’s What If This Is All There Is, of which Amos Perrine of No Depression said “On this, her fourth album, she continues to be the consummate “folksinger,” without the chains of irony or the desperate pleas of the young thinking they are the first to climb that mountain and see the river below.” The concert is free, but donations for both of us are encouraged at payal.me/christophermarkjones. Thursday, May 20, 8:00-9:00 PM Eastern US time, on Facebook Live and YouTube Live

CHRISTOPHER MARK JONES Biography

Singer-songwriter-guitarist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.Christopher Mark Jones sings soulful country and blues-inflected Americana narratives in “a rich voice that’s slightly rough around the edges” (Scott Mervis, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette), but still grabs the listener along with his “fascinating lyrics” (Melody Maker, UK) and the “intricate guitar-playing” and “wide-ranging textures and exquisite instrumentation” (Larry Berger, Saturday Light Brigade) of his recordings. Listeners hear echoes of “Greg Brown's pacing and a Lyle Lovett attitude” (Ben Shannon), as well as of John Prine, Bruce Coburn and Darrell Scott.
