After a 2-year hiatus and following on from hit singles ‘Manly Vale’ and ‘Hollywood’, Sydney based indie rock band The Phazes release their brand-new single entitled ‘Clear Eyes’. A melancholic, post break up banger, ‘Clear Eyes’ sees The Phazes take a modern lo-fi pop approach to their already acclaimed vintage rock sound. Drawing reference from local acts Allday and Mossy, the single also holds true to their early 2000’s indie rock roots inspired by bands such as Blur and The Strokes. Written and recorded in a matter of days during the 2021 Sydney lockdown, ‘Clear Eyes’ is not only about a revolution of self, but also signals a new era for The Phazes' trademark indie rock sound. Talking about the meaning behind the song, lead singer Hayden Byrnes says, “song writing is a therapeutic form of expressing myself and my emotions and I think I’ve painted a pretty clear picture of that this time around.” Previous singles have received support from Australian radio stations triple j, triple j Unearthed, FBI & 4ZZZ, with their tracks featured by online publications Happy Mag, Sounds of Oz and Little Indie Blogs (UK). The Phazes have opened for and supported the likes of Thirsty Merc, Birds of Tokyo, Bakers Eddy, WHARVES, Gold Member, PLANET and Fragile Animals, and have played boutique music festivals including Thirroul Music Festival.
