Abco Biography

Abco is a multi-talented artist whose short time in dance music has netted her massive wins. She brings with her nearly a decade of DJing experience and nearly a lifetime as a musician. Her career began to flourish after her move from Boston to Washington D.C. . She was personally tagged by the imitable LP Giobbi to be a part of the Femme House Friday’s, a result of Abco transforming her Twitch following into a dedicated network of fans enamored with her UK-influenced meld of deep and chunky beats. Drawing upon influences from the likes of Low Steppa, Jess Bays, Cinthie, Tough Love, and Paul Woolford, Abco has crafted a sound that leans heavy on the underground with a healthy dose of feel-good vibes.

Music has invariably been at the backdrop of Abco’s life. She had the good fortune of supportive parents who pushed her to follow whatever career path she chose. Her singer-songwriter father always encouraged her passion. She exhibited signs of her musical aptitude at a young age studying drums, guitar, and trumpet. And while music always played a huge role in her life, she began to gravitate towards sports. Yet even as she found herself playing Division One field hockey, music still played an important role in her life. She curated mix tapes for her team’s workouts - using each 60-minute session to exhibit her skills as an expert selector.

Her love affair with dance music expanded slowly, similar to the way that one would fall for their future life partner. It started with an attraction to the emotional and melodic sounds of Tycho and Bonobo. And as she started seeking out live experiences, she found herself gravitating towards House. By the time she had fully immersed herself in the culture of dance music, she had fallen hard for the community and its unifying spirit.

This newfound love for dance music led to her picking up DJing and later enrolling in the Maven School of Music Technology in Cambridge, Ma. She found a new way to apply her innate abilities as a musician while studying DJing, production, and synthesis. Maven helped foster her inborn talent and translate it into the language of electronic music. As a result, she found the inspiration to devote herself completely to a career in music.

She’s quickly created space for herself in a crowded House music scene. Her debut release “I’ll Never” on Funktrap Records, peaked at number 2 on the Beatport Top 100 House releases and was number 16 in the overall chart. An impressive feat as a new artist. She’s DJed at some of the North East’s most respected venues including The House of Blues Boston, U Street Music Hall, and Flash in D.C. She’s quickly becoming a sought-after remixer on the heels of her rework of Two Tails’ “Bath Time.” The next year is looking particularly bright for Abco as she has an avalanche of new music and collaborations ready to pop.
