Enjambre Biography

Enjambre is a four-piece rock band from Anaheim, California. Their sound is the bastard son of Grunge and 60’s rock, with a dose of macabre-pop. In describing the band’s music, OC Weekly wrote “Sometimes they’ll ballad you…Or they’ll out-Weezer Weezer for emo wimpiness, afterward straight-edging you …Or they’ll come straight out of The Wizard of Oz with a bizarre oompa-loompa song that has you scanning the sky for winged monkeys.”

In 1994, Luis Humberto (LuH) and Rafael Navejas began their Rock ‘n’ Roll journey in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico with a band called Los Cuatro Fantasticos (The Fantastic Four). In 1998, they moved to The U.S.A., and began a new project with their cousin, Romeo Navejas. They named the band Enjambre, which means “swarm” (in Spanish, Navejas sounds like ‘abejas’ [bees]). In 2002, a Chilean math tutor from a nearby community college takes over as their new drummer. Enter Nicolas Saavedra. His experience as a drummer and heavy metal influence elevated the band’s live performance and composition style to another dimension.

Enjambre noticed that an element was missing from their sound. Osamu Nishitani was a friend of the band who they knew was a good guitarist. This Germany-born Japanese boy with a British accent fell in like a ring on to a finger. The missing link was found. His use of 80’s-influenced synthesizer sound and buzz saw guitar completed the formula.

Enjambre has performed with acts such as Café Tacuba, Aterciopelados, Fobia, Enanitos Verdes, Jumbo, Zurdok amongst others and have visited cities like Chicago, Atlanta, Las Vegas, San Jose, San Francisco, San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico.
