About this concert
For my birthday on Wednesday 3/3/21 I will be releasing a new track for Bandcamp followers. This one is a studio cover of one of my all time favorite songs by a musical hero of mine: Possessed By Paul James. This song has carried me through good years & hard times while continuing to feel more relevant every time I hear it. Konrad Wert 's lyrics are timeless. The original version of Ferris Wheel has the bare bones honesty of a Lomax field recording: a moment in time preserved for it's telling of the American story. Konrad's entire being becomes a vehicle for some otherworldly power & the musical by-product is akin to a Ouija board session at a punk rock show. You will know exactly what I mean when you see him live. PPJ is all meat and potatoes; he is a Folk singer who walks the talk. When he's not creating timeless music, he is a Special Ed teacher, an activist, & recently stepping up for local government in Kerrville, TX. I quit drinking 2 weeks ago & I felt a little bit like a giraffe on ice approaching the mic at Sweetfoot Studios . Cutting vocals without some Whiskey to loosen up "the pipes" is definitely a new endeavor. During the vocal take for our version of Ferris Wheel I felt an electricity pumping through my veins. This "experience" was so intense I had to go stand outside in 30° temperatures and swing my arms around. After about 15 minutes of deep breathing, I joined Shea Springer at the console and we listened back while I told him "I think I was just possessed by Possessed By Paul James."

Skribe Biography

Garage folk from the land of pleasant living.

kribe plays an oil can called a canjo-zookie. It’s an eight-string guitar with a biting, blues-y rasp. Skribe’s got the voice (and the old-school Cadillac) to match. Accompanying himself on the suitcase-kick and hi-hat, Skribe’s “M.I.Y.” is a barn-burning roots number.
