ABRAMORAMA PRESENTS: PJ HARVEY - A DOG CALLED MONEY WHICH IS A UNIQUELY INTIMATE JOURNEY THROUGH THE INSPIRATION, WRITING AND RECORDING OF A PJ HARVEY RECORD. Harvey and photographer/director Seamus Murphy travelled through Afghanistan, Kosovo and Washington DC before landing back in London to record in an unprecedented and experimental way - with the public watching. This investigation into inspiration and the creative process can be seen in collaboration with Maestro on Monday, December 7 at 8pm EST / 5pm PST with a special introduction from the filmmaker, Seamus Murphy, before the film.

PJ Harvey Biography

From the outset of her career, the work of PJ Harvey has commanded attention. A multi-instrumentalist, she is primarily a vocalist, guitarist and pianist.

Her catalogue features ten studio albums, and collaborations with a wide range of musicians including Thom Yorke, Nick Cave, Tricky, Sparklehorse, Josh Homme, John Parish, Pascal Comelade, Gordon Gano, Ramy Essam and Mark Lanegan. She has composed extensive soundtracks for film, television, and stage.

Her accolades include an MBE for services to music and an Honorary Degree in Music at Goldsmiths College. She is the only artist to have been awarded the Mercury Music Prize twice, in 2001 for Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea, and 2011 for Let England Shake, alongside eight Brit Award nominations, seven Grammy Award nominations and two further Mercury Prize nominations.

She has authored two books of poetry: ‘The Hollow of the Hand’ and ‘Orlam’. Her latest album ‘I Inside the Old Year Dying’ was released in July 2023 and is available on CD, LP and digital formats now.
