Ruff Diamond Biography

In a career that has seen him work with some of the biggest names and brands in the industry, clocking up multi-millions of records sales as an Artist, Producer, DJ, Remixer, Musician, Songwriter, Composer and Label Boss and achieving various accolades along the way, Chris Robinson aka Ruff Diamond is an Artist who is here to stay. Making a name for himself as a young session musician as the UK's answer to Nile Rodgers on Funk rhythm guitar, his abilities as stringsman have been called upon legends such as Grand Master Flash, Maxi Priest, Corrine Bailey Rae, Errol Brown (Hot Chocoloate), Gwen Dickey (Rose Royce) and The Shapeshifters to name but a few. He worked hard on developing his production skills, and following a number of independent releases and winning awards for producing and co-writing music for Adidas and other commercials, he broke through in the 2000s and went on to become an in demand producer both sides of the Atlantic, successfully producing records for platinum artists such as Mark Morrison, Che'Nelle (incl the version of 'I Fell In Love With The DJ' championed by Radio One and Tim Westwood, that launched her career) and numerous others. Renowned for having a magical soulful feel in everything he did, he was commissioned by Music World Entertainment/Sony/Columbia A&R to remix Beyonce's biggest selling single 'Irreplaceable' in 2006 which became the most aired remix of the record to date. Other high profile official remixes incl Teedra Moses - 'Be Your Girl', Estelle - 'Go Gone', Marcos Hernandez - 'If You Were Mine' and Keith Sweat feat Akon - 'Some More', further establishing the Ruff Diamond sound in the RnB world and nothing up credits with a vast array of prestigious labels incl Capitol, Virgin, EMI, Sony/Columbia, Universal, Positiva, TVT, V2, Armada, and many more. Fast forward to today, Ruff Diamond's sound has continued to evolve over the last few years with a shift in direction towards his love and passion for Disco, Funk and Boogie - a scene in which he is now fully immersed and making a significant impression. In addition to releasing a consistent flow of dancefloor bombs on coveted labels such as Big Love, Re-Loved, Midnight Riot, Masterworks Music, Hot Digits, Applique, and his own highly respected imprint SupaEarth Records, and gaining the support of many of the top selectors in the genre, he is also gaining a momentus party-starting reputation around UK and Europe with his uplifting and energetic Funk fuelled DJ sets, delivering Disco in a way that connects deeply with his audience, such is his passion for the genre and the essence of what it is about.
