When the outside world thinks of New Orleans music, they typically think of funk, jazz, and rhythm and blues as its premiere exports, but in truth, there is so much more. Beneath the surface exists a plethora of great bands that may stray from that traditional sound, but hold true to the city's level of musicality and creativity. Among them stands Quarx, a four piece psychedelic rock band originally from Baton Rouge that's steadily emerged as a force on the scene. Captivating audiences at regional and local venues alike, Quarx has a knack for combining complex songwriting and heavy riffs with enticing grooves and exploratory improvisation. Finding inspiration from sounds new and old, Quarx provides listeners with a vintage sound for the modern era. Since forming in 2017, Alaric Fricke (rhythm guitar & vocals), Jonathan Zeringue (bass), Keagan Soto (lead guitar), and Thomas Vercher (drums) have established themselves by headlining shows and playing with artists and bands like Mike Dillon, CDBD, and the Iceman Special at venues like New Orleans' Tipitina's and the Howlin' Wolf, Baton Rouge's Chelsea's Live, and other clubs across the Southeast.
