Sikander Biography
Sikander is a Melbourne-based outfit blending contemporary electronics with live sitar, saxophone, and vocals, into a groove-laden sonic spread. We draw our influences from diverse genres and musical traditions ranging from Dub, Trip-Hop, analogue-era Rave and digital-era Bass culture, to psychedelic funk, Jazz, South Asian ragas, Middle-Eastern folk music, and African polyrhythms. This is post-world music – re-interpretations of ancient rhythms and melodies for a digital-era dancefloor.
Sikander are Pradip Sarkar aka Docta Deep on beats, samples and synthesiser, Jeremy Malcomson on electric sitar and guitar, and Nifty on sax and synthesiser.
