The Boppers

With two million records sold in Scandinavia, Europe and Japan, the Boppers are one of the most successful retro groups of their kind. Their breakthrough came in 1979 with their debut album, “Number One”, which sold 460 000 copies followed by a record breaking summer tour with more than 120 performances in three months, 4000 miles on the road, screaming fans, police-escort and bopper-mania. The 50´s were in fashion again, with american cars, rock n´roll hairdoes and drainpipes. The Boppers have always been serious about their rock n´roll and doo-wop, with a great love for the originals and a feeling for authenticity. This has given them a great following also with foreign fans. In Japan, the Boppers have had several successful tours, achieving a number one hit with their first original song “Do That Bopping Jive” During the heyday of electronic pop in the 80´s The Boppers continued to perform their own style on tour. With the beginning of the 90´s the band regained popularity with original hit singles such as "Kissing in the moonlight" “Jeannie´s Coming Back”, “Gonna Find My Angel” from the album ”The Boppers”, which sold 270 000 copies. Their career has certainly been eventful with, every now and then, successful appearances with swedish rock-king Jerry Williams, seen by audiences of over 200 000. The jubilee 2002-cd” 25 Years Still Boppin” with endless touring and live-performances. Through the years The Boppers have been on tour with famous artists like Chuck Berry in Sweden and Suzi Quatro i Denmark.
The Boppers have continued to cultivate their love of early R&B-style, the Chuck Berry riffs and the close vocal harmonies, the group has now become synonymous with the authentic groove of 50´s and 60´s music, even with a lot of newer original songs. By spring 2017 they released their 20:th album " Great Kicks" followed by a big jubilee tour in Scandinavia called "The 40 Years'n Still Boppin Tour"
