Copper Magma Biography
Emerging metal band in Tucson. Heavy, desert sound with nods to multiple metal genres. A melting pot of influences which include Black Sabbath (the true inception of metal), Iron Maiden (metal made heavy), Metallica (metal made thrash), Slayer (thrash but with nods to punk, black and death metal), Crowbar (metal made into sludge), Iron Monkey (metal made chaotic and intuitive almost a sub-genre of sludge), Sleep and Electric Wizard (invocation of the heavy laden riffs corralled by Black Sabbath), High on Fire (rejuvenation of multiple genres of metal), Dopethrone (metal band that takes unmistakable blues elements and fuses it into metal).
Copper Magma also draws influence from the area where the music is created. This area being the Sonoran Desert. Whether it be the flora/fauna, visual or aural aspect the Sonoran Desert has to offer: Copper Magma reaps in that benefit. Sonoran (taken from the Spanish) has it’s derivation to the word “sound”. What better place to create sound? Copper Magma considers itself to be categorized “Slag Metal”, which is a sub-genre of Sludge Metal.
