Kira Small

Whiskey-tinged soul. Nashville’s Kira Small is a nationally touring singer-songwriter, recording artist, 2018 Rocky Mountain Folks Fest Songwriter Showcase Winner, 2015 International Songwriting Competition Finalist, 2012 Independent Music Awards winner and former member of Berklee College of Music’s Voice Faculty. She also makes lemons out of lemonade. Kira’s June 2016 release 3 AM is one of those albums where an artist, in making sense of a time of personal upheaval, almost accidentally crafts a career masterpiece. She went through a leveling break-up, and only in processing its painful complexity and rebuilding her life could she craft such an emotionally visceral and honest album.

Kira has the chops to sing jazz and soul and has lived enough life to sing the blues. This rare blend has made her an in-demand Nashville session vocalist. She’s toured or recorded with Martina McBride, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, Ray Price, Peter Frampton, Wynonna Judd, even Wonder Woman (Lynda Carter). Grammy award-winning songwriter Mike Reid (“I Can't Make You Love Me”) summed her up: “You sound like a neat glass of single malt in a world of Michelob Ultra”.
