Rick Kevill

26 year old singer/songwriter from the gritty heart of manchester, Kevill haunts with a melancholic deep vocal over his electro charged, dark experimental pop tracks. Starting out in his teens, Kevill struggled to place himself in a few bands in Manchester, now armed with years of experience in the industry, has since taken an independent route. This solo move has allowed for creative and artistic freedom to truly find himself as an artist. Kevill prefers to stride into the abyss of his own thoughts and emotions alone, the depth of this inward journey fuels his tracks. The raw vocals effortlessly fall with heartfelt lyrics, plunging the tracks into desolation and heaving them back again, mixing dark and light themes lyrically and musically. In bringing the songs to life, Kevill worked closely with producer Lloyd Preece of Longplay, in a dark and smoky studio in the artistic Northern Quarter of Manchester. They weaved blurred electronic sounds with a recurring nostalgic feel, mixing current electro glitch trends with a classic underlying tone. Throughout Kevill’s songs, a relentless honesty is felt, riddled with emotion, past and present, fears, anger, and love. Thanks to his exposed poetic writing, nostalgic vocal presence and dark neon-lit sound, the tracks draw the listener into their shadows and echo in their mind.
